Fall Evening Illumination at Rikugien Gardens, Tokyo

Rikugien Gardens is one of the most known daimyo teien (garden of feudal lord) from the Edo Period, built by Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa who was the favorite retainer of the fifth Tokugawa Shogun Tsunayoshi. Designed to reflect famous scenes from waka poems, this ""Tsukiyama-Sensui"" style stroll garden has also been designated as a national scenic beauty since 1953.
The gardens are known as one of the best spots for fall foliage viewing. The annual illumination event during the season invites many people who enjoy the beautiful collaboration between the flame of autumn leaves and the illumination throughout this beautiful example of Edo gardens.
Be advised that some parts of the gardens may be closed after 17:00 due to security reasons.

The special tours highlight the elegance of the historical temple, from its traditional architecture to the landscape and autumnal colors of its gardens.
Visitors in the evening can sit amid floodlit foliage and enjoy dishes cooked by chefs of the Michelin-starred restaurant Ajiro, while those who prefer to visit during daytime can instead see the tea room, which is not normally open to the public.

Hachioji Ginkgo Festival | November 18th & 19th, Hachiouji, Tokyo

Those gingko trees were planted along the streets when the city expanded the Tama Goryo in the Showa period.
Highlight of this time is the tour of sekisho (old checking station) with old-time pass permits. Also, the parade of classic cars that survived the Showa era is planned.
You can feel the loving enthusiasm of Hachioji citizen to their hometown, which remind us of good old days. Enjoy nostalgic atmosphere covered with beautiful yellow leaves.
